EXPERIENCE

Alberto Maia has more than a decade of experience in the legal field, with solid practice in advisory and strategic litigation focused on the arbitration of complex disputes. He currently works in the Arbitration and Strategic Litigation practice at Da Fonte Advogados, focusing on disputes involving infrastructure contracts and corporate conflicts. He is a member of the list of arbitrators of CAM-AMCHAM, CAMES, and CMAA. In academia, he is a Professor of Arbitration at the Catholic University of Pernambuco (UNICAP) and has also served as a lecturer at the School of Advocacy of the Office of the Attorney-General of the Union (EAGU) and at the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), teaching the course Arbitration and Public Administration.

EDUCATION

PhD in Law with emphasis on International Arbitration from the Catholic University of Pernambuco. Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Law from the Catholic University of Pernambuco. He also completed an extension course in Arbitration of International Law at Universiteit Leiden (Netherlands).

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Author of the books “Fazenda Pública e Arbitragem: do contrato ao processo” (2020) and “Curso de Arbitragem: fundamentos, práticos e controle processual da arbitrabilidade” (2026), published by Editora Juspodivm. He has extensive academic production, with more than fifty book chapters and articles published in specialized journals, such as Revista de Arbitragem e Mediação, Revista Brasileira de Arbitragem, Revista de Processo, Revista dos Tribunais, and the Journal of International Arbitration. He is the founder and coordinator of the Marco Maciel Mediation and Arbitration Group (GMMA) at UNICAP, having led teams in several national and international dispute resolution competitions. He also served as coordinator of the MBA in Mediation and Arbitration at Católica Business School.
